If there is evidence that then have been forced to plead guilty to a crime they did not commit then yes there will be credence.

If there is evidence that did hospitalise a young Croatian lad then I’m not sure why they would have been forced to plead guilty.

I don’t want to be a cynic but I’m struggling to get my head around this from a legal standpoint.

Paying £5k for legal representation that ends with being “forced” to accept a guilty fee and pay a variable amount fine depending on which update you read.

My advice was to call the British embassy and getter better advice. Perhaps now they are home they can bring their own legal action against the Croatian authorities for extortion. It isn’t the 40s and Croatia isn’t the Far East.

I dont think its unreasonable to ask for someone involved with this to put up some form of receipt/invoice for the money been spent?? Charlie always puts up receipts of money spent from the WHO fund. look not having a dig here, but i think after the strokes Morgan/Swallow pulled that's not unreasonable?

The Uk media are really quiet on this, especially after all this time.

This is the number for the British embasssy in Zagreb. I am sure they will be very interested to help 6 British citizens locked up without any evidence and being extorted for £7k each and forced to plead guilty.

+385 1 6009 100

I’d also advise not paying £5k legal fees if the only advice they have offered is to plead guilty.
Speak to the embassy and get some better advice quickly.

People on here think £5k is a lot for legal representation for a case in another country where you'd not only need the legal representation itself but to pay for interpreters'/translators fees, court costs. £5k v easily.

Don't sweat it pal.. you're heart is in the right place.

I donated (a score).. did so happily, if it contributed towards the stranded in Croatia, or tops up the Isla Caton fund, either way, couldn't give a monkeys.
It was only a score.

It sound like Thailand where the police decide the fine (Tea money) I do not know how Croatian law works but unless fines like traffic offences are set fines then you would need to go to court to get fined that's where the lawyer would come in. I have not read much about this episode so maybe than has happened

It was an £8k fine and now it’s a £7k fine

Details are important.

Does anyone know how the young Croatian lad who was hospitalised is?

Just a little more background on timing.

I received the update on Thursday afternoon on way to the ground. On Friday I flew to the states at 9am, this has been the first time I have had the opportunity to post this message at 6am EST.

The original raise was for £30K.

When the options became clearer re the case, then the raise was changed to £60K.

Remember WHOmail if you want your money back.

As the original poster on here of the request to support the boys, I wanted to provide some more context. I have been in discussion with the organisers and other members of the group supporting the boys out there.

Below is a message from the Dad whose son is still in Croatia. Read it please. If any WHO poster wants their money back, WHOmail me, I will pay it personally to your account on proof of payment. I don’t know these boys and their families, but I am West Ham and we stick together, never taking a step backwards.

When they started this campaign, very long serving and well known West Ham fans spread the word, it had legitimacy. It still does. They are not questioning it..

It was started by friends of the boys, concerned for their mates and trying to help. Was it a professionally run PR campaign, NO, the boys doing this were looking out for their mates and families. They were trying their best.

If it was me who was nicked out there, I would want my mates doing their best to support me, as we have done for 40 years now.

Hi, I am one of the dad's of those who got arrested in Croatia. Tried logging in on an old account although can't get in.

Regarding the Zagreb thread, £4-5k solicitors' fees + £7k fine paid for each to avoid prolonged court case.

Thanks to those who have taken it at face value and & the support from hundreds of you who have been in contact over the last couple of weeks. Not been a great time but your support is very much appreciated. Personally can take the hit, others in the group maybe not so much as young couples having to take it/different circumstances. Your help will make a massive difference to them.

My son is still stuck out there as not permitted to travel due to being exposed to someone with COVID while out there. Hopefully back Saturday.

Understand why people are being cynical although legit.

Feel free to pass my number to one of moderators of the forum if that helps.

Some of the challenges going on now was one of reasons why we wanted a low social media profile as good intentions can backfire.

Thanks for all your efforts & hope all is good with you.

Weʼre raising £65,000 to Raise £8k fine + £5k solicitor fees to get the 5 West Ham boys wrongfully locked up out in Zagreb back home⚒

From the opening page and the later updates confirm the very specific £8k fine and £5k solicitor fees

It does feel very specific. Did the solicitor on day one walk and and say “if you pay me £5k you’ll get off with an £8k fine” ?

That is expensive legal representation and seems like a very large fine which isn’t in step with other fines given in Croatia.

Does anyone know if any of the money raised will go to help the Croatian lad beaten up and hospitalised?

You would like to think this is all genuine and the lads get home etc but also can’t blame people for questioning it etc.

Sadly so many of these online fund raising efforts have turned out to be scams, story’s like this or same nasty cunt claiming they have cancer, baby’s dying, pet needs expensive operation etc and turns out all the donations have gone on designer gear, holidays, drugs and generally having a good time, even when caught they blame this or that, mental illness, drugs, trauma or whatever, the money is very rarely re couped or paid back and punishments dished out are little more than a slap on the wrist, then the culprits themselves often have little or no remorse or even embarrassment and what they have done.

It’s maybe cos im getting older but humans being cunts does seem more rife in the modern world, just have to read the statistics on all types of scams that are around these days.
